Accidents at Work Claims
Where an employee suffers an injury as a result of an accident at work, there is a large amount of legislation enabling the employee to issue legal proceedings for compensation for personal injury, involving statutory, regulatory and common law.
Here are some examples contained within The Health & Safety Regulations, which came into force in the early 1990’s, originating in part from the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974:-
- The Health & Safety (Display Screen Equipment) Regulations 1992
- The Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992
- The Personal Protective Equipment Regulations at Work 1992
- The Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992
- The Construction (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1996
- The Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998
- The Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998
- The Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations 1999
- The Management of Health & Safety at Work Regulations 1999
- The Work at Height Regulations 2005
The Health and Safety Executive estimate that accidents at work cost approximately £558 million a year. This does not take into account the pain, suffering and loss of amenity the victims and their families are exposed to.
